Beware of Polar Bears

Here's four random things -

  • Here's some dialogue from our house this past week: Elias: Tanner, do you know what Sunny D is? Tanner: No. Elias: It's a drink with a sun on the bottle. Me: How do you know what Sunny D is? We've never had it. Elias: I saw a commercial for it. Can we get it? Me: You can drink it if you want but I think it's disgusting. It tastes like orange juice flavored pancake syrup! Elias: I think it's good. You can't resist the power of Sunny D! Me: What!?

  •  <this portion of the post was redacted on 5/13/2022>

  • From the world of Star Wars: Why does a Battle Droid need a walkie-talkie? They're robots, shouldn't they just have had the radio built into them!?

Barbie Does Wilma

O.K...first of all, the only reason I get Barbie Collector in the mail is because at some point I signed up to get all of Mattel's catalogs. But instead of sending me the Hot Wheel's magazine or their general toy book I get Barbie Collector and the Little People Catalog! That being said, check out these totally sweet Flintstones dolls they've got out! Barbie sporting Wilma and Betty's fashionable prehistoric look. They pretty much nailed the detail too. Both Wilma and Betty's dress are pretty much the same as they appeared on the tv show. The only difference is the skirt and the mink around their shoulders (which I would bet could be removed.) They've even got their hair and jewelry down right. Good Show, Barbie!

Then they've also got Kelly and Tommy dressed up as Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm. First question here is, What's a Kelly and Tommy. Without a TV show or a movie, how am I supposed to know who Kelly and Tommy are? I guess maybe a 5 year old girl knows!?! These little dolls are also fairly accurate as well.

You know these dolls are for adult collectors because anyone in the Barbie demographic has no idea what the Flintstones are. Still, for only $45 bucks for the Wilma and Betty that's a pretty affordable collectible for a grown-up Flintstone or Barbie collector.

My only dilemma: do I display them next to my Flintstones stuff or next to my Spice Girls dolls?

Happy Birthday Elias!

Today is Elias' birthday! It was five years ago today that I became a daddy. And tomorrow morning, Elias will get on a school bus and begin his education. I felt old the first time I drove him to preschool, but watching him get on a bus and go off on his own is a little bit scary.
Anyhow, Elias celebrated his birthday be receiving tons of Star Wars toys as well as his two other "favorites of the moment" Indiana Jones and Sonic the Hedgehog.

I've got pictures of the birthday boy and all the festivities up at Flickr and Facebook.

Build-a-Hero

Elias likes to make up his own superheroes and villains. Here's a recent creation of his he calls "Luke Skywalker in Disguise". It's made up of a Superman cape, Batman mask, a cowboy gun, and a magic top hat. So if you have all that stuff lying around your house, you too can play Luke Skywalker in disguise!

More Than Meets The Eye!? No...it's just waffles

This one is dedicated to "Brian in CA". The fine folks at Eggo, the leader in food dye illustrations are at it again with new Transformers Animated waffles. These breakfast goodies feature the likeness of the transforming robots in their new cartoon series. Sometimes you get a picture of one of the Transformers, other times you might just get the word "Bumblebee" printed on your waffle. Either way, it's good eats!? Right!

The Transformer Eggos have replaced the earlier "Kung Fu Panda" waffles which was an easier transformation for my kids then the Hot Wheels to Barbie Eggo change that happened earlier this year!

Back From The Beach

We're back from an extended stay at Ocean City, MD. We all had a great time. We actually made it to the beach this year, unlike last year when it was too cold! We hit up the pool a dozen or so times, we did some rides, played some golf, and of course had some good eats! I'm planning on writing up an in-depth food review in the next few days, so stay tuned for that.

The kids loved playing golf, and they loved talking us into going to Candy Kitchen every chance they got...but the real highlight of the trip for them was winning Sonic the Hedgehog plush characters at a midway game. They've become quite enamored with Sonic over the last couple of weeks.

If you've got Facebook, you can check out my photo album of the trip there, and I'll get some pictures up on Flickr soon too!
