Seven Shows I'd Like To See On Broadway

Last week when I was putting together my list of Vegas shows that I'd like to see, I got to thinking...it takes me less time to drive to New York City than it does to fly to Las Vegas! I should really get up to New York more often, especially since I enjoys me some live theatre. I've only ever been to one, actually honest-to-goodness Broadway performance. When I was a senior in high school we took a bus trip up to see Les Miserables. I didn't understand a second of it. Years later, Debbie Gibson took over one of the lead roles and I would have been delighted to see her in it but all I got out of it was somebody stealing a piece of bread, a spinning stage and the French Revolution! I also saw the touring company production of Disney's Beauty & The Beast, which was one of the earlier dates my wife and I went on. That was a memorable evening.

I really, really wanted to see the stage version of The Little Mermaid, and had every intention of doing so but then it closed so quickly! Sadness. Anywho...here's some stuff that's playing now on The Great White Way that I'd love to see:

The Book of Mormon - Eugine O'Neill Theatre All I need to know about this show (and just about all I really know) is it was written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the guys behind South Park. I pretty much don't pay much attention to South Park anymore, but Parker and Stone are two brilliant and funny guys. You might not be able to get past their obsession with obscenity, but they are masterful when it comes to parody. The South Park movie blows me away every time I see it. They are also responsible for a hilarious marionette action film Team America World Police which is painfully funny in so many directions. Their Broadway debut takes aim at religion in this country and as with all their work, it backed by what I'm sure is some fantastic music.

The Lion King - Minskoff Theatre It seems everybody has seen a production of this Disney hit but me. If Disney is setting up shop somewhere, I'm in. I'd love to see this show which is just about as critically acclaimed as a show can get yet I still haven't seen it. It's also running in Las Vegas, but this kind of a thing doesn't really feel like a Vegas type show. I'll stick to comedy and boobs out there and hopefully make a concerted effort to catch Simba & Co. next time the touring company comes around.

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark - Foxwoods Theatre I don't care what the media has been shoving down our throats for the last couple of months, I think this show looks awesome. I'd pay some big bucks to see a fight take place above my head. I'd also really love to take my older son to see this, I think he'd think it was awesome too. I'm not sure his appreciation for the show would match the ticket prices. I'd probably be better off just waiting for Spidey to make an appearance at a car show.

Mary Poppins - New Amsterdam Theatre I know what you're thinking - Ed, you'll go see anything with the Disney name slapped on it. Well, not necessarily true as I wasn't really hankering to ever catch a glimpse of Disney's Broadway version of Tarzan. But when it does come to Disney, Mary Poppins is at the core of everything that is great about the Wonderful World of Walt Disney. I'm sure this would be as spectacular as an evening in one of their theme parks.

The Addams Family - Lunt Fontanne Theatre I'm not a huge Addams Family fan, but I bet this would be a fun show. The stage show is more inspired by the original comic strip than the popular television series, but it still has the good sense to retain the TV show's theme song. A simple step that shows they're doing something right. I've heard Broadway Addams is alot of fun!

Avenue Q - New World Stages Here's the rub, my brother couldn't basically give two rat's behinds about theatre and he's seen this show! It's an off-color, puppet filled take-off on Sesame Street. Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy the art of puppetry? There's a touring company of this show too. When they scheduled a performance near the WWoB offices I tried to sell my wife on justifying forking over the dough to go see it. I knew going in that it was an uphill battle trying to get her to go to a $50 puppet show...and still I have not seen this show.

Gazillion Bubble Show - New World Stages You're going to do a show where you just blow bubbles? Lots and lots of bubbles? For 90 minutes, you're just going to blow bubbles. Bubbles of all sizes you say? Like a gazillion of them? Who do I make my check out to?

Virtual Disneyland In Our Homes

So apparently Microsoft and Disney have teamed up to make the world we live in a more awesome place. First up from this partnership is a video game for the XBOX Kinect which allows you to visit and explore the Disneyland theme park in all it's detailed glory. I'll be honest, this is the first release for XBOX that's made me think about getting my hands on one.

Here's a preview presentation of the game from the latest E3 video game convention:

Trailer Tuesday - Angel (1984)

One of the great taglines of all time: High School Honor Student By Day, Hollywood Hooker By Night. I used to watch this movie on Baltimore's Channel 54 all the time. I probably had seen it a half dozen times on television before I picked up a used VHS copy of it at a video store. The film is not only about a teen prostitute but also about a killer on the loose knocking off hookers. It wasn't until I saw the movie unedited on home video that I knew the killer was also having his way with the hookers...after he killed them. A delightful little plot twist that was completely edited out of the TV version. Enjoy!

My Week In Movies - June of the Penguins

Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011) Let's face it, Jim Carrey is at his best when he's just being Jim Carrey. We like him goofy, silly and just off the wall bonkers - it's why he's a star. It's understandable that he wants to do more than than in movies, but throw us a bone every once in a while and just let loose and go crazy like ya did in your first handful of movies! Mr. Popper's Penguins is a perfect vehicle for Carrey to let loose and be a goofball and there are moments in the film where we see the ol' Ace Ventura Jim shine through. But too much of this movie is wasted on the sappy relationship between Mr. P and his kids and the played out storyline about his career that we never really get the full Jim Carrey experience that this family film should carry. Even the penguins aren't given that much to do, they have some funny scenes and Carrey is funny reacting to them but overall this picture should have been alot funnier than it was. If you're not looking for a Jim Carrey experience and just a nice family friendly flick to take the kids to - this should do you just fine. If you're looking for Jim Carrey in his element - you'd be better off rewatching Ace Ventura or The Mask.

I Am Number Four (2011) Imagine a cross between Star Trek and Dawson's Creek...except without any of the good parts. In this teen oriented sci fi caper, a young fella is on the run from alien bounty hunters while also trying to navigate the complex world of high school. He meets a girl, falls in love, stands up to the school bully, and also discovers that he can shoot light out of his palms. The aliens out to get him are some mean looking bargain basement Star Trek leftovers who wish to take over the Earth but must first destroy nine kids sent to the planet from space. (The kid in the story is the fourth of the nine, get it?!) I hate in movies when aliens are portrayed as basically humans with weird tattoos and bad teeth. In a world with Mike Tyson and the British - you need a little more effort than that nowadays to sell me an alien. That's why ALF continues to be the most realistic depiction of alien life. Well, ALF and that brain thing from the old Ninja Turtles cartoon. I Am Number Four does conclude with a pretty decent action sequence and sets the stage for a series of films, I guess they are hoping I Am Number Five is next? It's kind of lame to force a franchise on an audience. We all knew we were in for 18 Harry Potter movies, but unless you're a broom riding wizard you need box office receipts before you can start filming a number two...or five?!

C.C. and Company (1970) Oh Ann-Margret! You've steered me wrong this time! The still gorgeous Ann-Margret and goofy looking football legend Joe Namath star in this early 70's biker picture. After a cute opening scene where Namath makes a sandwich while shopping in a grocery store, we settle in for a fairly bland adventure. Apparently in the 1970's audiences couldn't get enough of motorbikes because this ain't the first film I've seen where a good percentage of screen time is dedicated to capturing the glory of little mopeds scurrying around a dirt track. There are at least two extended scenes of just people riding around on bikes. This film also features the hilarious comic misadventures of rape and teenage prostitution. I couldn't tell if this was supposed to be a comedy, drama or action flick. The movie's carousel calliope soundtrack didn't help matters either.

Scooby Doo: Camp Scare (2010) They've been making these direct-to-DVD Scooby Doo animated movies at the rate of one a year for the last 15 years. I've seen a couple of them and I rather enjoyed this one. Scoobs and the gang join Fred as he goes back to the summer camp of his youth to be a counselor. Of course there are some mysterious hi jinks afoot. This Mystery Inc. outing plays nice to older viewers with some sophisticated jokes and a funny subplot about Daphine's jealousy over a sexy, curvy counselor at the neighboring camp. I only wish these films were animated more in the style of the older cartoons, but they do retain alot of the fun of the original series.

Space Jam (1996) There are two types of people in this world: The people who think this Bugs Bunny/Michael Jordan basketball movie is a piece of crap and there are those who think it's a fantastic movie. I am from the camp of those who find it awesome! My kids enjoyed it too!

"Weird Al" is Back!

There's one thing my stepson and I can agree on: the release of a new "Weird Al" Yankovic album is the greatest day of the year! Alpocalypse marks the 13th studio album from Al - and it's a doozy! Even though six of the 12 songs were already released on the internet, the remaining six are so fun it's just as good as getting an all-new CD! There are some classic Al moments on this CD. Overall, it was worth the five year wait since his last album. The first track on the album is not only a parody of a Lady Gaga song, it's also a send up for Gaga herself...

Seven Shows I'd Like To See In Vegas

The videos in this post contain scantily clad bodies and suggestive imagery.

I could spend months on end in Las Vegas going to see a different show every night and never get bored. There are just as many show options in the Neon City as there are places to loose your money. Unfortunately, I'm only ever in town for a few nights which leaves time for just a couple of shows. If I could see more, here's what would be at the top of my list...

#1) Jubilee - Bally's The first time I went to Vegas I was all about doing all the traditional, classic, tacky Las Vegas things. We saw all the sights, I had my 99 cents shrimp cocktail, we even got married in a Vegas wedding chapel. Unfortunately, we had children in our traveling party so I wasn't able to see a classic Las Vegas Topless Review. Nothing sexual or sleazy, just the pretty girls with the big feather head dresses dancing and hi-stepping down a flight of light up stairs - that's all I wanted to see. We didn't see any shows at all on that first trip but when we went back a few years ago - without kids - I was all about seeing the classic Las Vegas Showgirl. Unfortunately we picked a show called Burlesque X, mostly because it was in the hotel we were staying at. It was basically a strip-joint with faux art. It was kind of sleazy, low rent and we literally had to sit at little tables with old men in trench coats. It was pretty awkward and unenjoyable. Now that I've done my research, I'd pick Jubilee which at this point is just about the only venue left in Vegas where you can see the classic traditional Showgirl review.

#2) Absinthe - Caesar's Palace Absinthe is a recent addition to the strip's offerings. It's a circus/freak show performance in a very intimate setting of about 600 seats. Some of the acts are performed right over the audience. It's also somewhat of a parody of all the Cirque du Solei shows all over town. It sounds pretty cool. It also happens to feature Angel Porrino, Holly Madison's BFF and co-star of Holly's World. (Have I mentioned I love that show?) In Absinthe, Angel does a tap dance number inside a giant bubble. Oh, she also happens to be topless while doing so.

#3) Viva Elvis - Aria I've been dead set against ever stepping foot inside a Cirque du Solei show for many years. It's way too freaky for me! But their new show, which pays tribute to the music of Elvis, looks pretty cool. It looks like the Cirque folks put away the funny looking noses, the sad looking clowns and their endless supply of troupes of tiny Asian kids doing acrobatics and just got down to some good ol' fashioned singing and dancing. It looks like alot of fun...

#4) Crazy Horse - MGM Grand Here's a really cool looking burlesque show where they use all sort of lighting effects to make some outstanding eye candy. Currently the show occasionally stars Claire Sinclair, Playboy's 2011 Playmate of the Year and another one of Holly's friends who can been seen on her show.

#5) Zumanity - New York New York Ok, so if I'm going to break my long standing ban on Cirque du Solei shows I might as well go see the dirty one too...right?

#6) Donny & Marie - Flamingo I loves me some Donny & Marie! They are just a part of my being, having watched them when I was a kid and listening to their records - they are just great. We actually had them on our radar to see when we were in town a few weeks ago but sadly Donny and Marie were out of town. The girl at the ticket counter told us they are on vacation more than they perform. Hey, they've been showbiz icons for decades! They deserve it.

#7) Penn & Teller - Rio Last but not least, I think Penn & Teller would be an incredible night's worth of entertainment. I've always enjoyed their act on television, not to mention their Showtime show Bull$#*!. They've been a Vegas fixture since the late 80's so there never seems to be an urgent need to see them, but I should probably get around to it before they are gone.

Leave us a comment with any good Vegas shows you've seen or would like to see!

Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah

My kids aren't exactly daredevils. They are very cautious children. Even though they are both developing a roller coaster bug, neither of them are really looking for big thrills. So I was pretty surprised last week when they both showed interest in doing a zipline course for kids at Jolly Roger Amusement Park in Ocean City, MD.

Jolly Roger has installed ziplines for adults over their waterpark, but they've also added a nice little zipline obstacle course for children. Once suited up, the kids cross bridges of increasing difficultly until they come to the end of the course where they must zipline back to the starting point. Elias and Tanner both tore up the course. I was really impressed with both of them and also very proud of them for stepping outside their comfort zone. The best part is: they had a blast.

Here's Elias zipping back to home base:

And then Tanner (You can hear him scream with excitement)

My Week In Movies - I Liked A Nick Cage Movie

Drive Angry (2011) This isn't my usual cup o' tea when it comes to movies but something drew me to this recent action flick. And of course, that something was the poster. You know something is up when Nicolas Cage's name is on the poster but his image takes a backseat to his co-star, the extremely attractive Amber Heard. She is obviously very easy to look at and she's a fun actress who handles this action-packed roll with style and humor. Drive Angry is one of a recent style of movie where it's just ridiculously over the top action, gore, profanity and nudity. There's something to be said for just being silly with the amounts of R rated material in a movie. Here, Nicolas Cage has escaped from Hell and is out to rescue his granddaughter from the hands of an evil cult who plans to sacrifice the baby. Cage teams up with small town waitress Heard (did I mention she's pretty?) and off the zoom on a crazy adventure. It turns out that while Satan is a little ticked that Nick Cage escaped from down below, Satan also hates babies being sacrificed in his name. So he sends a little help from the underworld to help out Mr. Cage and to make sure he returns safely to Hell. I really enjoyed this movie alot. It's fast paced, crazy fun.

The Roommate (2011) Wow, was this some kind of horrible! I don't watch a whole lot of thrillers or horror movies, but even I saw every alleged twist and turn of this college campus psycho movie coming from a mile away. Two new college roommates become quick friends until the one starts to obsess over the other a little too much. She scares away her friends, kills her pet (thank you Fatal Attraction) and does a bunch of other stuff for pretty much no reason except to be freaky. The cast includes Leighton Meester, who I enjoy, but she was also in the equally horrible Country Strong. I hope she can appear in a good movie soon. The always fun Aly Michalka is also on board, once again playing the best friend of the main character. Maybe one day she'll graduate to leading role. By the way, this movie is horrible - don't waste your time.

Summer Magic (1963) It's been a while since I'd seen this charming, feather-weight film from Walt Disney. There are many pictures from the Disney cannon that fit right into one of the lands of the Magic Kingdom theme parks. Summer Magic is one of the few films that evoke the nostalgia of Main Street U.S.A. The down-on-their-luck Carey family moves from the big city to a small quiet town in Maine. There, they meet Osh Popham played by Burl Ives. Yes that's right, Osh Popham...played by the snowman from Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. There isn't much of a plot to mention, just a series of light hearted misadventures. Three of the best underrated Disney songs appear in this Haley Mills picture: On The Front Porch, Femininity, and my favorite The Ugly Bug Ball. This is good wholesome entertainment that will make you nostalgic for the good old days, even if your good ol' days were only 30 years ago.

Harry and the Hendersons (1987) Speaking of the good ol' days, I hadn't seen this movie in quite a while. We dialed it up On Demand while at the beach last week. As I'm watching it I realized that it's been 24 years since I saw it in the theatre. Then I felt very old and couldn't concentrate fully on watching Bigfoot tear up John Lithgow's house. Cute movie, still holds up today.

edTunes - Blow

This video for Ke$ha's Blow is strange and weird like so many other music videos are, but it's also got some really funny stuff in it. Check it out as Ke$h does battle with Dawson himself, James Van Der Beek...

Trailer Tuesday: Airplane II: The Sequel (1982)

The follow-up to the smash hit Airplane! was not made by the same team that created the original. However, I think the sequel is also a fantastic movie with alot of it's own great bits...and dozens of jokes carried over from the first movie. This holiday themed trailer is funny in it's own right. The insurance joke in this trailer is not in the final film.

Revenge of the Dutch Wonderland Trip Report

Summer Vacation officially started for us this past Thursday afternoon when Elias got home from school. For a stay at home parent, Summer Vacation is like tax season for an accountant or Christmas for Santa Claus - it's the busy season! We decided to start things off with a bang with an all day visit to our new summer home Dutch Wonderland. We had beautiful weather and a very light crowd as most schools are still in session for at least another week or two.

For the first time in Dutch Wonderland's history, they've split their parking lot into two sections are are now charging $10.00 to park in "Preferred Parking" or the lower lot as it's commonly known. These are the handful of parking rows located directly in front of the castle entrance. The parking is still free about six lanes up from the entrance, it's a pretty silly idea to charge for slighlty better parking. Honestly, the furthest spot in DW's parking lot is closer to the entrance than most theme park's best parking spot is to theirs but obviously when you start to charge for something that's been free (for almost 50 years) people are going to get upset. Dutch Wonderland has tried to quiet some of the upset guests by including the preferred parking as a Season Pass privlage. I assume it was an afterthought since this perk was not mentioned in any of the literature when we signed up for our passes.

I don't really care one way or the other. The walk from the lot is not bad, in fact the kids enjoy following Duke the Dragon's footprints across the crosswalk. But since I can park down front for free - I'll take `em up on the offer. The lower lot was not nearly full and the handful of dashboards I examined all had Season Pass parking tickets displayed instead of the $10.00 ticket. For all the ill-will it's buying Dutch Wonderland, I doubt it's worth paying someone to sit at a ticket booth to look at season passes when the average person is not going to pay $10.00 to park a few rows closer to the castle doors. Dutch Wonderland isn't exactly the hangout for big spenders!

But beyond the parking lot, we had another really great day!

Tanner has turned into a real daredevil. He had earmarked a dozen rides that he wasn't going to ride because they were too tall, too fast...or whatever other reason he decided. He's five years old, so you can't hold it against him, right? Well, he's been picking off those rides one by one. This visit he conquered The Twister - a Tilt-A-Whirl/Scrambler variation. It spins round and round in both directions while raising and dropping to the ground. I can't handle spinney rides - I get sick way too easily but the kids loved it and rode it several times. The Twister was moved to Dutch Wonderland a few years ago from Hersheypark where it was named the Rodeo for many years. Tanner also overcame his fear of the Flying Trapeze - a high flying swing ride which he had labeled too high. Even though last year at the beach he cried and cried because he wasn't tall enough to ride the big swing ride with Elias.

Tanner was also ready to ride Kite Flight, one of the park's two new rides this season. This was the first ride for all of us on this new addition. It simulates hang gliding by riding in vehicles laying down on your tummy. The ride spins round and round while ascending and descending. I got a little dizzy near the end...the kids rode it two more times. I didn't get a good picture of the ride, but I'll try next time.

One of the things I really admire at Dutch Wonderland is their appreciation for their own history. They have a small section called Memory Lane where a few old ride vehicles are on display. This train car is from Old 99, a really fun little ride that you could still find at some old parks. It was active at DW until fairly recently, it's footprint was where the current Thomas The Tank Engine theatre is. The ride took the trains on a twisting track around a garden with a couple of hidden gags. Sensors in the track would activate gags such as a stack of barrels falling on the train or a cow popping out of of hiding onto the track. The cow now resides in the back of the park on the Gondola Boat Ride and I'm happy to say they went to the trouble of hooking him up to the boat track so he can still surprise guests.

The park's resident ducks continue to be a popular time consuming attraction for my kids. On this day, we found three baby ducks walking the path near the space rides. I gotta admit the little ducks were pretty darn cute and my kids and others went nuts following the little peeping ducks all over the area.

The antique car ride has been rechristened Sunoco Turnpike with plenty of product placement all over the place. The cars are now sporting not only the company logo on the hood of the car, but are also outfitted with a fake speedometer and gas gage. Nice tough I thought. Almost every park has an antique car ride, and I think Dutch Wonderland's is one of the most scenic although it's a bit brief.

Duke's Lagoon - the water park section of the park - opened on Memorial Day weekend. We had decided to leave the swimsuits home this visit but we ventured across the bridge to the Lagoon to check it out. The boys jaws dropped to the ground when they saw this enormous collection of Slush Puppy machines. The Slush Shack in Duke's Lagoon let's kids mix and match from over 10 different flavors of Slush Puppy. They even have some DW related drink recipes if kids want to make their own cocktail. The nice thing is they let you use your regular refill cup from the park which saves you a couple of bucks. Well played, DW!

My Week In Movies - The One Where I Give Jack Black A Chance

Bye Bye Birdie (1963) I continue my mild obsession with early Ann-Margret with this staring vehicle which was designed to make her a movie star. It's a reworking of the popular Broadway show, brought to the big screen with two of it's original stage performers - the awesome Dick Van Dyke and the super awesome Paul Lynde. The cast also includes Janet Leigh and as himself, Ed Sullivan. The story follows the nation's heartbroken teenage girls as their singing idol Birdie (a bargain basement Elvis knock-off) has been drafted into the service and will be leaving showbiz. To celebrate his departure, Ann-Margret wins a spot on television to kiss Birdie bye-bye for all the girls in the U.S.A. There's plenty of dated material, but you simply can't beat the majority of the musical numbers in this film. Shot with a bright palate of colors, the zippy songs are fun and a joy to watch. Check out this super fun number on YouTube.

Gulliver's Travels (2010) As a general rule of thumb, I can't stand Jack Black. He's a one trick pony in my book, and I don't even like his one trick. There's only so many times you can use the word "awesome" in one 90 minute period before I've gotta jump ship. The only reason I came to see this film is because it is family-friendly and my kids wanted to see it. That being said, I rather enjoyed this silly reworking of the classic tale. Jack Black does use "awesome" and many variations of that word way too many times for one movie to hold - but it's silly story and good heart won me over. There is a great supporting cast including Jason Segel, Emily Blunt and T.J. Miller and not to give anything way but this breezy little movie plays by my number one rule for a good movie - end on a musical number! My biggest complaint is not with the movie itself but with the rental DVD we got from a Redbox. I kid you not, 9 1/2 minutes of unskipable commercials before the movie. I couldn't chapter past the promos, couldn't fast forward them, could not even jump to the menu. This is totally not cool! Among the mandatory viewing is a three minute Ice Age cartoon that no one should be subjected to under any circumstances. We saw it in the theatre before RIO and did not need to be forced to watch it again. It's one thing if the movie studios want to leave the bonus features off rental discs, but don't make me watch something I didn't ask for!

Fred and I `76

This picture is awesome for so many reasons! First, we've got little ol' me just shy of 4 years old hanging out with one of my best buddies, Fred Flintstone! This picture also gives us a look at how the walk around characters looked at Kings Dominion in 1976. Too bad there's not more of the park on display in this shot - over Fred's left shoulder you can just make out the giant rainbow entrance to Hanna-Barbera Land, so it's safe to assume this photograph was snapped inside the Happy Land of HB. Last but not least, the photo is dated on the back June 6, 1976. Why is someone standing in an amusement park in the summer wearing long pants and a tie? I'm not talking about Fred, because he doesn't wear pants, I'm talking about the fashionably dressed gentleman in the background.

Random Sweetness

Some random photographs that I've snapped on my journeys....

< An autographed photo of Jim Varney as Ernest P. Worrell on display at Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum in Orrtanna, PA.

Really cool Yogi & Boo Boo lollipops promoting the recent movie. I picked these up at an RV show from a Jellystone Campground booth.

I love when they do plush of obscure or forgotten about characters. The Disney Store has (among other great plush) Clarabelle Cow and Professor Ludwig Von Drake. Both of these characters were all but forgotten, but now kids know them thanks to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

How sweet would it have been to have this as a kid. It's a replica of Oscar Mayer's famous Wienermobile, but it's a kid's ride on toy. You would have been pretty darn cool riding around the neighborhood in that as a kid, until you got to the age where kids started making jokes about you sitting on a wiener.

My Week In Movies - May Wrap Up

The Boys & Girls Guide To Getting Down (2007) Ya gotta love a movie with a gimmick and this one's got a nice one: a movie about partying and hooking up done in the style of a Discovery Channel-esque documentary. It's pretty funny when they take a look at the training that goes into becoming a bouncer or when they discuss the power that hot girls have over the universe. For those of us who don't party in those types of circles, it's also interesting to find out all the various uses of all the different recreational drugs that are out there. A unique little movie worth taking a look at for some good lighthearted fun.

I Am Comic (2010) An actual documentary, this one is about stand up comedy. It's pretty much just a little bit about everything there is to know about the profession, dissecting the art form from various angles. There are interviews with 100+ comedians from big headliners like Tim Allen and Kathy Griffin to folks you've never heard of working the open mic circuits. It's a very interesting look behind the scenes and into the minds of the world of comedy.

Both these films are available on Netflix Instant.
