My Week In Movies - February Wrap Up

Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie (2012) There's a fine line between making a totally stupid movie and a stupid movie that knows what it's doing. I'm happy to say that this is one of the good ones.

The Prize Fighter (1979) Tim Conway (easily still one of my favorite actors) and Don Knotts appeared in 6 films together. This depression area boxing comedy was the only one of the six I hadn't seen. Overall, not a great film but Mr. Conway can do no wrong.

Brain Donors (1992) I've always loved this remake of The Marx Brothers' A Night At the Opera. I'm really surprised this hasn't become more of a cult classic over the years, but if you like funny, funny movies - find a copy of this great movie and watch it.

Puss In Boots (2011) Very slightly better than average outing for the Dreamworks crew. Shrek's buddy Puss gets his own backstory which is actually well told with some exciting action sequences and plenty of gentle humor spread throughout.

Night Patrol (1984) This is one of the major Police Academy rip-offs that I had not seen. I actually remember my dad telling me about it when he saw it late at night on HBO when I was a kid. There's some solid humor tucked in this movie, but instead of a Police Academy clone, at it's heart the film is really a staring vehicle for The Unknown Comic - a guy who told joke wearing a brown paper bag over his head. He was a real celebrity back in the early 80's...and somebody thought they should capture it all on film. Doesn't mean I had to watch it some 25 years later!?
