What A Mess

I haven't been able to keep up with the recent frequency of posts here at WWoB because we've just been so busy around here lately! After a pretty busy weekend, Tuesday Elias went on his first field trip...and it was literally a field trip because they went to an "environmental center" which was actually just a field with some woods in it. I got to go as a chaperone. I had a group of three kids and we walked through the woods looking for different types of wildlife and doing some projects along the way. The kids all had a great time, Elias though it was just fantastic. He's still talking about and can't wait to take his little brother there this summer. Speaking of little brothers, the same day was also Tanner's graduation from preschool. As suspected, he didn't much participate in the proceedings. As soon as his class started to sing their little song, Tanner walked to the side of the stage and hid behind a table for the rest of the performance. Which didn't really matter anyways, because my camera died the moment the night started.

We've also been having more garage issues lately. Our garage door is supposed to have 16 wheels connecting it to the track. Last summer, four of the wheels had come disconnected from the door and the track. As of this weekend, we were rolling on three wheels still connected. We were able to schedule a door to be installed as early as today, so Jennifer and I spent all day yesterday cleaning out four years worth of junk and garbage from our garage.

We were lucky to borrow a truck from Jen's parent's business to fill with unwanted trash to take to the dump...
This is what neighbors saw as they drove by our house yesterday. It looked like we were being evicted...
On top of that, given my history of not attending to yard problems as soon as I should, I'm sure every neighbor on our street came home last night thinking this junk was going to sit in our yard at least through the weekend. But, by 9:00 last night we had it all cleaned up and more important...
...we now have a garage that is clean and we can even park cars in it! Wow-wow-we-wow! The new door is being installed right now. It's pretty exciting around here!

The Ice Cream in the Ice Maker Incident

We have one of those ice/water dispensers in our refrigerator. The automatic ice maker quite literally takes up half of the freezer side of the unit, so we have very little storage space in our freezer. Often I will put something on the edge of the ice maker if I can't fit it on one of the lower shelves. Last week I put a half eaten container of Ben & Jerry's Half Baked flavored ice cream on the edge of the ice maker. Over the course of the week I managed to forget about the ice cream and so it ended up falling into the automatic ice maker. It then got buried deep into the ice holder with new ice on top and then today we started getting mysterious brown and white chunks of goo frozen on our ice...

This is the kitchen sink filled with an automatic ice maker full of chocolate tainted ice!

Here's half of the Ben & Jerry's container completely twisted around the spinning blade at the bottom of the ice holder.

And here's the other half of the Ben & Jerry's container, ripped to shreds and embedded with ice cubes.

Moral of the Story: Don't put things in an automatic ice maker!
